Hi fellow students of the Josh Cohen school of music
My name is David Freedman and have been guided by Josh Cohen for almost 4 years now .
I began my piano journey at the age of 60 . It has been a new adventure and gives me
a fresh sense of purpose as I approach retirement from a long career in General Surgery in country Victoria
I have found the piano an exciting and amazing instrument and have always been very curious
to understand what jazz pianists are actually doing because it seems like unbelievable magic .
This challenge is probably the most difficult I have undertaken. So far I have learnt to play simple jazz standard
ballads and am coming to gripps with jazz cord voicings and 251 s and the blues.
Acceptable improvisation is still out of my reach and I still have to pay people to listen to me play
With Josh and his inspirational guidance I feel I'm making progress .
